Trip Summary
This retreat experience is for all-levels yoga enthusiasts, adventure seekers, nature lovers and the Mind-Body-Soul explorer. This shift happens here, to liberate you from the daily distractions of life, and allow you to stand in the power of your own peace and harmony. Under the guidance of Laura Monk from Soulfish Events, Flowstate makes its third appearance in Playa Gigante.
Throughout the week, expect to indulge in daily movement accompanied by Live DJ Disco Penny Lane, optional surfing at different beaches, ocean view hikes, experience cold plunge therapy, visit the volcanic island Ometepe, and immerse in the culture with an authentic cooking class in a local village. In addition to an hour long included therapeutic massage onsite, there is space left for you to relax by the pool and enjoy the vibrant tropical beachy village along the Pacific Coast of Southern Nicaragua, Playa Gigante.
A Soulfish experience is rooted in vibrational practices involving movement, the environment and music. At week's end, you will feel empowered to navigate life's waves with your own innate personal power. One that connects and aligns to the things, people and experiences that shape a more fulfilled and purposeful life. This is your Flowstate.
The hotel
Welcome to Room to Roam, a boutique hotel nestled in Playa Gigante, Nicaragua. With 14 rooms all surrounding a central sparkling pool, onsite restaurant and bar, and a grand palapa wellness space, it offers modern comforts while retaining the area's rustic charm.
Each room features a private bathroom, air conditioning, hot showers, and WiFi. Rooms also are equipped with bath towels, pool towels, and beach towels. Experience the essence of Playa Gigante at Room to Roam, where luxury meets authenticity.

About Playa Gigante
Nestled off the beaten path, El Gigante is a vibrant fishing village just over an hour north of San Juan Del Sur along Nicaragua's stunning Pacific Coast. Aptly named "big foot" in Spanish, the town's moniker captures the gentle embrace of lush green foothills meeting the ocean. Here, untouched beaches, wandering farm animals, and rustic dirt pathways paint the scene, reminding visitors of the beauty in simplicity and the art of slowing down.
The essence of El Gigante can be summed up in the phrase "Take it Easy". From the moment you arrive, there's an unmistakable feeling of releasing tension, as if exhaling a long-held breath. It's an invitation to simply exist, to embrace the moment without hurry or worry, and to relish in the laid-back rhythm of coastal life.
La Isla de Ometepe
Discover the enchanting island of Ometepe, home to the world's largest freshwater volcano. Your journey begins with a scenic ferry ride from the port town of San Jorge, offering breathtaking views of Lake Nicaragua.
After arriving on the island, it is about a 45 minute drive to San Ramon, a cascading waterfall at the foothills of Volcan Maderas. Embark on a scenic hike, approximately 3-4 hours roundtrip, starting on a wide trail that meanders through shaded pathways, offering glimpses of verdant open fields. As the journey unfolds, the terrain gradually ascends, providing a welcome respite for weary legs along a more established trail. The final stretch, spanning 25-30 minutes, presents a thrilling adventure as you navigate creeks and rocky terrain, with moments of scrambling to conquer yet another incline. Brace yourself for an exhilarating trek to behold the majestic beauty of this hidden gem, a testament to the awe-inspiring landscapes of Ometepe. We will enjoy a packed picnic lunch to enjoy at the top.
Conclude your adventure with a refreshing dip in Ojo de Agua, a mineral pool where you can unleash your inner adventurer with a thrilling Tarzan swing experience. Prepare to be captivated by the beauty and allure of Ometepe at every turn.

Picture yourself flowing through sun salutations to the rhythm of pulsating melodies, each beat harmonizing with your breath and movement. With expert precision, our live DJ syncs the music to elevate your practice, guiding you deeper into meditation and mindfulness. As the energy builds and flows, you find yourself immersed in a state of pure bliss, transported to a higher plane of existence. It's more than just yoga—it's a transformative experience that ignites your spirit and leaves you feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and utterly alive.
About Laura Monk
Having practiced yoga since she was 16, yoga has been a constant in Laura’s life in a variety of ways. What started as something that could alleviate physical pain from athletic injuries, turned into a mission to find acceptance and acknowledge our responsibility to lean into the ebbs and flows of our path.
Soulfish was founded on the idea that in order to truly show up for ourselves, we should not be either selfish or selfless, but SOULfish- putting energy towards the things and people that light us up, and allow us to be authentically ourselves, mind, body and spirit. This includes the highs and the lows of life, and most especially, all the moments in between.
Laura’s workshops, events and classes, focus on moving meditation (which can be both high and low intensity!), in conjunction with music-driven sequences, which are all designed to get you to your FLOWSTATE- focused and fully immersed in creating your life by design.
Laura is 200 E-RYT certified, with specialties in SUP yoga, Yoga Sculpt, Power Vinyasa, Yin and meditation. This will be her third time facilitating at Room to Roam in Nicaragua, and she considers this one of her favorite weeks of the year. She has also hosted retreats in Ojai and Joshua Tree, California, as well as running her SoulStoked; Yoga on the Seas series on the Triton Catamaran since 2021, among many other pop-up events in the greater San Diego area
Cooking Class in Tambo
Embark on a journey of culinary discovery with Guadalupe, a local woman residing in the quaint town of Tambo, nestled in the scenic landscapes of southern Nicaragua. At Guadalupe's humble abode, surrounded by roaming chickens, pigs, dogs, and cows, you'll experience the true essence of Nicaraguan cuisine.
Engage in an immersive cultural cooking experience as you learn the art of making traditional tortillas and fresh cheese, staples of Nicaraguan cuisine.
As you immerse yourself in this authentic culinary adventure, you'll not only gain valuable cooking skills but also a deeper understanding of Nicaraguan culture and tradition.
Prepare to be enchanted by the warmth of Guadalupe's hospitality and the rich yet simple flavors of her kitchen, creating memories to cherish for a lifetime.

Roundtrip ground transportation between the airport + hotel. You can choose to fly into either Managua (MGA) or Liberia, CR (LIR) and we will pick you up from either!
Laura leads creative and incredible classes that include strength, stability, flexibility, breathwork, alignment based cues, and a Savasana massage at the end!

Panga boats are the best! We launch from Gigante bay, directly across the street from the hotel, and take in the breathtaking views of rugged cliffs and pristine beaches, immersing yourself in the natural beauty of this coastal paradise.
Enjoy authentic Caribbean Curry cliffside, overlooking the ocean with the best view Gigante has to offer.
Located at the south end of Gigante Bay, a quick 20 min hike to the top gives beautiful coastal views of Nicaragua.
Close out the week with a memorable beach bonfire fiesta!
